The food was worthy of a better rating but we could, unfortunately, not divorce the meal from the exceptionally poor wait staff. It took fifteen minutes from ordering to get our drinks. This was a pattern oft repeated throughout the evening. Also, I ordered sweet tea and when I asked for refill was told they had run out. Of sweet tea. In South Carolina. Major effort was required to get Parmesan cheese on salads and entrees. When additional bread was requested, the waiter was seen by several members of our group to roll his eyes! As stated, the food was adequate although a bit pedestrian. I ordered veal parm which was decent but came with a rather bland salad that simply needed some seasoning and vinegar. Another trip to the dentist getting our server to bring a ramekin of balsamic. I also had some question as to the provenance of the "olive" oil dipping mixture for the bread. The flavor was exceptionally light and reminiscent of canola oil. I seriously doubt it was actually olive oil. It's hard to tell anymore what you're getting in the way of oil at these places. Anyway, like I said, the meal was of average quality, not much better than what you'd find at a sit down fast food like Carabbas or Olive Garden. The overall experience was very disappointing as we had had success eating at Villa Tuscanna in years past. Nothing lasts forever. This was proof of the laws of entropy. Won't go back, can't recommend.

Awesome meal, great staff and wonderful ambience! If you like great Italian food this is the place to go. The pork Oso Buco dinner was the bomb.

Super warm bread and dipping sauce. Loved the spaghetti and sausage and lobster ravioli. We will return. Great atmosphere.

Went here on a Friday night. Place looks run down, had to park around back down a narrow path. Got seated in the bar area which was fine but music was way too loud. Asked to have it turned down, server was happy to do so. Waited forever for our food. Server was very apologetic and kind. I had cheese ravioli which tasted frozen. Sauce tasted jarred. Kids meal was 5 bucks for a giant hard to cut meatball and a bowl full of barely sauced noodles. Had to put it on a plate for him to eat it. I don't know how they expect a kid to eat out of a narrow bowl. Fettuccini Alfredo was mediocre at best. We won't be back. Two stars for the nice server and bread/oil dip.

Great authentic Italian restaurant! My husband and I tried this restaurant for the first time and we will definitely go back again! They served the freshest lightest warm bread with an herb infused dipping oil combined with chopped roasted red peppers. Soup or salad is served with every meal. So nice to not have to pay extra for that. We opted for salad which was a very fresh mix of romaine, onion, and red cabbage. The house dressing was a light blend of balsamic vinegar, olive oil, and fresh herbs. We always order our dressing on the side. For entrees: I ordered the Red Snapper Mediterranean with artichoke hearts, capers, black olives, and tomatoes, served with a light white wine/tomato sauce over capellini. It was very flavorful and a bit salty at first but not too overpowering. My husband ordered the Veal Bella Italia which was a tender pan seared veal filet flavored with crabmeat, shrimp, and basil. The crabmeat and shrimp were not visual under a generous amount of melted mozzarella. It was served with sautéed mushrooms over penne pasta with a lemon infused sauce. It was very tasty but heavy on the mozzarella cheese. Both entrees served ample portions. We shared a Tiramisu dessert which was very good. Of course we asked for the complimentary Lemoncello! So good! We would like to go back again and try different entrees because we are sure they would be equally good.

So glad we took a chance on this place. Great food and service. Fresh bread with a garlic sun dried tomato butter. Yum! Best version of Minostroni soup I have ever had. Both of us loved our meals. A nice Italian feel with a piano player. Desserts sounded wonderful as well but too full.

BEST. ITALIAN. PERIOD. Also, it's definitely not closed seeing as how I was just there last night, so not sure why it's listed that way. My gf and I live here in MB and Tuscanna is where we bring everyone from out of town. Don't let the creepy outside appearance turn you away because once you're inside, you're in heaven. Try not to fill up on the bread and most amazing olive oil "dip" you've ever tasted because every entree here is absurd.. It's that good. Suggestion: make a reservation and allow yourself plenty of time... Those wizards in the kitchen are creating your perfection, but this often results in slow-ish service.

Great find. Good food and great service. We tried this place instead of a chain Italian restaurant and the Yelp reviews were spot on. We had a large party that they accommodated with no wait. The bruschetta is amazing and we all loved our main courses.

As others have said, looks a little rough on the outside, but the inside is rather charming. The entrance opens into a moderate bar area, with a key-tinkling, crooning pianist who switched between singing Sinatra-style songs and playing music you might hear at a spa. It's a really nice addition to a restaurant, in my opinion, and served as interesting background music. Yelpers have also raved about the bread, and I will echo their praise. Brushed butter and garlic across the top, served with an olive oil, tomato/herb dip awesomeness. We devoured our loaf in minutes. Each entree is also served with your choice of soup or salad. The salad is a substantial size and had fresh-grated cheese and a zesty housemade vinaigrette, but some sort of sad beginning-to-brown greens. I'd studied the menu in advance and concluded there are a lot of great options to choose from. Hubby ended up getting the crab-stuffed chicken with parpadelle, artichoke hearts, and a chicken soupy-like sauce. The chicken is breaded on the outside, and had a hearty amount of crab of within. I had a bite of his dish and thought it was great. It was also more than he could finish (a rare feat!), so he brought about 1/3 home. I, on the other hand, finished my dish. I wish I had gone with another option because what I ordered was essentially glorified mac n' cheese. Tortellini alla Panna is listed as being tossed with "roasted red peppers, sun dried tomato, and crab meat." It had only the latter... and small bits of it, hiding within thick cheese sauce, at that... because it's tough to eat so much heavy sauce, I combed my fork through it searching for crab. Our server was excellent and attentive -- even though he had a large party to tend to as well. We were overall impressed with this place, and definitely recommend it for fulfilling an Italian craving when in Myrtle!

Have eaten here and Toscana Bistro at least a dozen times in the last few years. Food is always really good but last nights Mahi Mahi pizziola was the best Italian fish dinner I've ever eaten, and I've eaten in Italian restaurants in NY, Chicago, Philadelphia and New Jersey. As my grand kids would say Villa Tuscanna is the 'bomb'

I went to this restaurant after reading the reviews on this site and I have to say it did not disappoint me one bit. The bread was hot and fresh from the oven and went perfectly with the shrimp florentine appetizer we shared. This app was mind-blowingly good. Next came a small salad with the house dressing, and that was followed lobster ravioli in vodka sauce and eggpalnt rollatini. All very good. I visited the restaurant with my 70-yr old mother who uses a walker/transport chair. The host seated us with such care -- at the perfect table for my mother. A small touch that had big meaning. For the food, wine and care taken with customers, I'd go back to Villa Tuscanna again and again.

Authentic Italian is hard to find at the beach, however Villa Tuscanna is the exception! This place renders Italiano as soon as you walk in. The service, the food and the atmosphere is spectacular. And the cool part, if they don't have it on the menu.....simply ask and they will create your invention....and create it with perfection. This place is simply amazing if you have an Italian fix. Thank you Nick!!!! You ROCK!! This place will become a staple eat on each trip :))

Semi-okay service aside, this was by far the worst meal I've had on my vacation so far in Myrtle Beach. It was surprising because the appetizer and bread were delicious, but then the salad was overwhelmingly covered in liquid that tasted more like wine-gone-sour than legit balsamic vinaigrette by any means! So, we get to the entrees (we ordered the Veal Marsala and the Veal Parmigiana) and both were fit for the dumpster. Felt horrible during the meal, and wanted to regurgitate my meal immediately afterwords. Worst $60 ever spent. Oh, and neither of us could tell whether our drinks had been Diet Pepsi and Dr.Pepper like we were told, or if it was just some Root Beer mash up they had left in the soda fountain. No clue.

Despite a number of visits to NMB, we hadn't tried VT. On a slow, late January Sunday, we decided to give it a shot. The menu has some typical dishes and the price is probably not family friendly. A tab for two for entrees and water was $44. Depsite the prices, the food was very good. I had the scallops, shrimp and crab meat over angel hair in a garlic white sauce--very good. Big portions with good quality, large scallops and shrimp. Spouse had spagetti with Italian sausage. The sause was a red sauce with a bit of cream. The pasta was a bit soft but the sauce was tasty and the Italian sausage was very good - nice spice. Entrees come with soup or salad and all meals come with the best part--the toasted bread. You'll get a basket of warm bread dressed with garlic and herbs and a small dish of tomato olive oil spread. Amazing!! I could have eaten baskets of the bread just for my meal. I will be back for that bread! The owner seated us and walked us out. Ask him about the fish in the tank--he has the history of each of the fish in the tank. It was a fun chat.

Just ate there with my two boys. The waitress with an accent was rude. She rolled her eyes at us several times. I had to ask for bread and it was brought after our appetizers. The food was tasty. ..not the salad it was not good. But over priced for what we got.

Great little Italian restaurant. Highly recommend it. The warm bread and dipping sauce alone will make you glad you came. But don't fill up on the fresh baked bread. The food is fantastic. Started with a caprese salad which was great. They claim to hand make their mozzarella in house daily. The marguerita with chicken was really special. Amazing flavors. Zuppe Di pesce was not so good. Tons of seafood, two lobster tails, shrimp, scallops, mussels, clams, calamari. But it was overcooked and the sauce was meh. Luckily the portions were large and my wife shared her chicken with me. Service was really good. Friendly knowledgeable server. Pace was just right. I will be back.

Loved this restaurant! Out of all the fried murkiness of Myrtle Beach, you find this delightful, family-owned, authentic Italian restaurant. My bf and I had eaten too much for lunch, so we were just looking for something light (appetizers) and drinks. I ordered champagne, which came in a single serve bottle. We were served warm, freshly baked garlic bread (small) and just know that every bread after the first one costs $1. The dip (EVOO, red bell peppers, seasoning) was SOOO good. I'm European, and this was very authentic. I ordered the Italian salad, which is not a salad in the American sense...it was cheese, artichokes, slices of different meats, olives, etc. Small serving but it is meant to be picked on, not gulped down. Tons of fat, good to share with others (not just one). My bf had the escargots in gorgonzola cheese which was divine. RECOMMEND!!

Great Authentic Italian and reasonable prices! Will come back when in NMB! We actually walked in 15 minutes prior to them closing for the night but not a problem. We were not rushed at all, food came out tasting fresh and well prepared. Great Service and Great Food!

After dining at Villa Tuscanna last Thurs. evening, I was completely blown away! This is one of the best Italian meals I have ever had and that is coming from a very opinionated foodie who has traveled all over the world. This rivals some of the best restaurants in NYC which I have dined at. Nick's service was above and beyond which on top of the culinary delight was just the icing on the cake. Thanks for a fantastic meal while I was in town on business!!!

Food, portion, service were all good. I had my family with me at the beach last week, and Villa Tuscanna was our first dinning experience. I've got a 2.5 year old, so we tend to get in early (no waiting on Friday at 5:30pm for table of 6). The server was competent, and made sure we had refills, etc. Hot bread is served with butter and oil mixture; salad was terrific; dinners arrived promptly and were prepared/presented nicely.

I don't give many 5 stars, or any for that matter, but this place earned it. Before I get into how great it was, I must warn you not to go here if you're in a hurry. This is a laid back place that is set up for you to come in and sit and enjoy your drinks and appetizers, and salad, and dinner. I'd like to say dessert too, but me and my party had no room for that. We had a variety of appetizers, which were all excellent. I find very few places that serve escargot, but they do. I normally like prepared with Gallic and butter, but the gorgonzola cheese sauce is nice as well. The fried cheese was amazing as with the other aps. We had all different dinner dishes and all were prepared perfectly. Coming from an Italian family who has had an Italian restaurant in my family for four generations and approximately 80 years I can say this is some fantastic food. From the red gravy right down to the Brown on my Saltembuca!! They also have a great wine selection. In closing, while I'm from New York/Pennsylvania, and I work in NYC I have access to great Italian food, which I find hard to find in the south, but this place is it. Try it, but again don't go in the door in a hurry. PS, they do have a child's menu.

We had a delicious dining experience here. Our server, Leilani, was efficient and super sweet. Being from Long Island, we have plenty of access to amazing Italian food so I went in extremely skeptical of how the food would taste despite the positive reviews. The food was on point! We loved the dipping sauce served with the bread so much that we actually bought a pint of it to take back to NY with us! I cannot recall the name of the chicken dish I had, but it was made with goat cheese and was phenomenal. My kids enjoyed their food too - I've never seen my kids finish a meal in it's entirety, but they did here and then ate from my plate too. Call ahead and make a reservation so that you do not miss out on the food here. Place is decorated nicely and has a great selection of wines too. For dessert, have the expresso chocolate martini.

I dream about this place and I look forward to our annual visit during family vacation. The owners and staff are so welcoming, the bartenders are knowledgable, and the food is out of this world. This is, by far, the best restaurant in Myrtle Beach. I grew up in a small town that was predominantly Italian and the sauce here is better than grandma's Sunday best (shhh don't tell grandma). I usually up the ante and order something slathered in vodka cream sauce. Then, I use the deliciously soft and wonderfully seasoned homemade bread to soak up every last drop. I always leave here stuffed and happy!

We are north myrtle beach regulars and Villa Toscana is our favorite place by far! All ingredients, sauces, dressings, etc are so flavorful, vibrant and fresh! My favorite is that eggplant parm but everything we have tried has been great! Real authentic Italian and prices are great too. A myrtle beach must!!

So far so good. Very nice atmosphere. Wine is excellent. Menu looks promising. Bread is so good. Red pepper olive oil and garlic dipping. Waiting on the bruschetta. Bruschetta was a little sweet but the shrimp florentine made up for it. Very lemony flavor. Right on spot. For the entrees we had the veal picatta and veal osso Both were excellent. Side of meat balls. Everything was great. Would recommend this one. Ask for john. Top notch waiter.

If you are in Myrtle Beach, this is a must hit for dinner!!! Reservations are a good suggestion as well. I had a chicken and pasta platter. The chicken was rolled up with fresh mozzarella, prosciutto and tomatoes, on a LARGE bed of pasta in a wonderful cream sauce. My son had another chicken platter that was awesome as well. The prices are more than reasonable and the quality of food is outstanding. The staff are friendly and quick to meet your needs. Ask for Amanda if she's working. She was funny and a joy to have conversation with. Ask her about her golf game while you're at it LOL Remember that NO hard alcohol is served on Sundays .

This place was great!! Chicken Parm was delicious but seeing as it is an Italian restaurant I had to request a meatball! If it is a good Italian eatery, their meatballs will tell and they did not let me down!! Meatball test passed with flying colors, they are amazing!! Nice cozy little place and prices not bad you get a lot of food for the $$$! Love the family owned local eateries vs the chain restaurants.

Awesome food, service was fast and courteous. Much better then the typical Italian chains crowding the strip. Will eat here again for sure! They took us without a reservation even though they were pretty busy, kudos for quality service. Chicken parm was most excellent.

Tried for first time tonight. Wait staff attentive and prompt. Ordered the Spaghetti & Meatballs, wanted to see if they can do the basics right. They can. Pasta al dente, meatballs tasty and plate was full. Wife had Chicken Parm and was good with her meal. Will make this on our rotation when we are down here.

Average at best. Had the lobster ravioli but I'm not sure exactly how much lobster was in there (I know it wasn't much!). Service seemed a little slow, especially since we were there at 9:30 in the evening and the place was almost empty! If I want Italian in Myrtle, I'll go somewhere else next time.

Excellent food in a charming atmosphere, with attentive service... This is one nice place. It is a classic, authentic Italian restaurant, with a decent bar, nice wine list, wide selection of pastas, meat dishes, appetizers, and even a kids' menu. It's a bit pricey, but then it is in North Myrtle Beach, known for its inflated restaurant prices. Still, I'd consider this a great restaurant for just the two of you, for a celebration, or for a sampling of really great food. We started with Mozzarella Completa, a piece of cheese stuffed with prosciutto, tomato, roasted red peppers... and YUM. Our Avocado in Bella Vista salads were works of art. We ate every last speck... My wife had a really good manicotti, and I had Pollo alla Margherita (Chicken and Pasta with cheese, garlic, and balsamic reduction sauce). We had plenty of leftovers for lunch the next day. villatuscanna.com Reservations are recommended. The place was packed on a Saturday evening. Still, they had plenty of servers, and they were very attentive under the watchful eye of the owner. My only complaint is that the Chianti we ordered was marginal. It was even an "upgrade" to their first selection. Ask to have the wine poured table-side...

  • Dominic M.

Extremely overpriced and mediocre at best. Salad was nothing special...few carrot sprigs with lettuce...dressing fair at best. Garlic bread ok. Entree I had was snapper with capers with "white wine" sauce over pasta. Pasta was overdone and sauce poor. Fortunately fish was not overdone. For a $30 entree I expect near perfection. My daughter has a chicken dish. Tasted sauce and it was very rich. She enjoyed but I can't evaluate . Not sure where other reviewers eat Italian but I'd recommend going down road to Olive Garden. Guarantee you'll do better and leave with few extra bucks in your pocket.

Second year at this restaurant. We had a epic dinner last night. Epic. Been coming to the beach for 20 years and this is clearly the best meal weve had. Wonderful food and wine. The sauces are phenomenal. Had the pork special over garlic mashed potatoes. Fall apart meat with a wonderful sauce. The boy had chicken parm. Said it was the best he ever had. Started the meal with a mozarella appetizer. Nothing like i expected. The boy and I think we could just order three of those and be very happy. Staff friendly. Ambiance casual and calm. Nice. Cant go wrong.

On a repeat visit, I found a fried calamari in my chicken parm. It was so emaciated from being "stuck in the fryer" that it looked like a spider. Management decided first to offer me a free dessert, then when I declined, to take half off my meal and nobody came out to apologize. Will not be dining here again.

Axel the server made our visit amazing. We got the Mozz cheese app which was mediocre at best. Truthfully, our server made our entire trip. He kinda reminded me ot Barry from Storage Wars (if you watch it). The entrees were delicious as well as the desserts. But I've certainly had better Italian food. ASK FOR AXEL

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
